Power Utilities
Have increased environmental regulations required you to embrace new scrubbing technologies? Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) scrubbing technologies involve limestone and gypsum slurry solutions which are abrasive and corrosive in nature. Carbon steel and alloy material options are generally not reliable or sustainable for this service.
For both financial and safety reasons, FRP has become a reliable and cost-effective solution for wet FGD applications at many power generation stations. However, the exposure to both corrosive and abrasive chemical environments makes monitoring the condition of the process equipment critical. At Maverick Applied Science we strongly encourage you to conduct an annual Maintenance Assessment Program, which includes visual inspections and other non-destructive testing measures.
As the power utilities have gained confidence in FRP, applications have expanded to include:
-
Abrasion resistant piping for slurry service
-
Reagent and gypsum storage tanks
-
Chimney liners
-
Large diameter ductwork
-
Large field fabricated scrubber vessels
