Most project successes have not happened without effort and a comprehensive solution. In many cases where FRP applications have been problematic, it has been due to some oversight in the details of engineering, fabrication, or installation. Localized stresses are not always evident and may not be addressed by general design practices. In this presentation, Jeff Eisenman, President of Maverick Applied Science, will discuss situations where excessive or unaddressed localized loads have negatively impacted the performance and reliability of FRP systems. The purpose of this presentation is to bring some of these localized loads and stresses to light for discussion and future consideration. Root causes and potential remedies will be discussed.
