Proven Solutions for Preventing Nozzle Failures

One area of an FRP system that continues to create challenges for a plant site is the nozzle connection between the tank and the piping. There are several justifiable reasons for why that is, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Our Chief Engineer, Darryl Mikulec, presents proven solutions.

Nozzle connections represent geometry transitions where external piping loads, thermal growth, and fluid pressure concentrate. Inadequate gusseting or improper laminate overlay can lead to cracking and chemical leaks.

This session covers proper nozzle attachment lamination, gusset design, secondary overlay bonding, and support flexibility considerations to eliminate nozzle failures in plant service.
